A Busy, Blessed Weekend

The weekend of June 17-19 was a busy one for MAS Chicago. On Friday, MAS Youth brought back one of its signature summer projects; MY Revive. MY Revive is a monthly gathering for youth to reconnect and revive their faith. This month the program was held at the Orland Park Prayer Center. The program started with a spiritual talk by a MAS Chicago Tarbiya Director, Dr. Ibrahim Mansour. Dr.Mansour’s speech focused on practical ways to bring ourselves closer to our Creator and to set our hearts in line with our Deen. The latter part of the program consisted of Qiyamul Layl prayer and dhikr. More than 25 youth, ages 14-18, attended and benefitted from this event.

On Saturday, MAS held its first joint Qiyam Program with the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview. More than 100 people attended the event entitled, “To Increase your Iman.” Also on Saturday, the MAS Chicago Sisters’ Committee held one of their increasingly popular sisters’ swimming events at Pelican Harbor Aquatic Park. Finally, on Sunday around 30 youth, ages 10 and older, attended a MAS Youth Picnic in Oak Lawn. “It was really an amazing event,” said Albara Othman, one of the picnic attendees. “Great brotherhood, fun sports, and amazing hamburgers. It was excellent Alhamdulilah.”
