MAS Houston: A new approach, new partnerships & new levels of success!

Houston area Muslims participated in a groundbreaking event which brought together, for the first time, over 16 Muslim organizations. The primary focus was to provide a community platform that allowed leaders and organizations to complement each other by reaching our attendees in a unified effort. The event was, by the blessing of Allah (SWT), a great success.

Over 2500 attendees gathered in Downtown Houston at the Hilton Americas-Houston to explore, learn and reflect on their individual roles in promoting an accurate image of Islam. We benefited from one of the most diverse gatherings of knowledgeable, inspirational and influential Muslim leaders as well as interfaith partners and subject matter experts. All of them shared their experience and perspectives on important issues related to how we understand Islam and Muslims today.

 

For three days, our spirits were enlightened, our morale was uplifted and we were inspired towards positive action. Our diverse assembly of speakers drew on their expertise, knowledge of history, the Quran and the Sunnah, with examples which were informed by authentic scholarship and contextualized by contemporary experience.

 

We would like to thank and acknowledge the great efforts and sacrifice of the many brothers and sisters who made the Islam & You convention a possible. I would like to thank all of the speakers, partners organizations and MAS/ICNA for creating this new platform and the broader community leadership for being with us and helping in the success of the convention. And perhaps most importantly we ask Allah to bless all the selfless volunteers who worked tirelessly supporting the event and assisting our attendees all for Allah's pleasure.
