Joy on their faces, Quran in their Hearts: MAS Quran Institute end of the year ceremony
On May 20, 2011 more than 85 students and their proud parents attended the MAS Quran Institute (MQI) Imar Center the end of the year ceremony. During the ceremony, several graduating students recited passages from the Quran in their own unique style. These different recitations reflected the core message of the ceremony: while all of MQI’s students are learning to recite the Quran in its perfect form, every student is unique and special.
The MAS Quran Institute’s larger vision is that “Today’s reader is tomorrow’s reformer and leader,” said Imar Center Director, Fatimah Khalil. In keeping with this vision, MQI strives to produce students who not only perfect their recitation of the Quran, but who more importantly implement and embody the verses that they master in the classroom. Since its founding in 2004, the MAS Quran Institute has been a crucial part of carrying out MAS Chicago’s mission: To move people to strive for God consciousness, liberty, and justice, and to convey Islam with utmost clarity.
