    The Muslim American Society (MAS) in Chicago sincerely thanks you for another successful dinner and is prepared to capitalize on this community's support and momentum in the coming year.

    This Sunday, April 15, over 900 leaders and community members attended MAS Chicago's annual fundraising dinner. Over $320,000 in pledges were collected to fund a major overhaul and expansion of MAS Chicago's newest center.

    Imam Zaid Shaker was among three notable guests who headlined this year's dinner. His speech, which dealt with the importance building and maintaining one's character around the model set by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), resonated throughout the packed banquet hall. He reminded attendees that investing in a Muslim institution is an investment in Islam, and an investment in Islam is an integral component of a righteous Muslim character.

    Welcoming Our New Outreach Director!
    The Muslim American Society (MAS)-Chicago is pleased to announce the return of Sister Karen Danielson as the Director of Outreach at MAS Chicago. Sister Karen brings a wealth of experience in outreach, da'wa, and public education. 

    Sister Karen converted to Islam after independent reading of the Qur’an in 1984, as she was attending Faith Baptist Bible College while preparing to become a Christian missionary. Recently, she has received a Masters Degree in Islamic Studies from the University of Jordan’s Institute for the Study of Islam in the Modern World, Amman Jordan, June 2011.

    In 2009, the Obama administration moved to grant political asylum to foreign women who suffer severe physical or sexual abuse from which they are unable to escape because it is part of the culture of their own countries. The move was a significant shift in policy that opened the way for physically and sexually abused women to seek the same protection that those fleeing female genital mutilation are already offered.

    MAS-ICNA Convention attracts 6,000 people to Chicago
