Job Title: FullTime Imam
Location: 9210 S. Oketo Ave. Bridgeview, IL 60455
MAS Chicago NFP (Bridgeview, IL) seeks Imam to direct and coordinate all religious functions of the MAS Chicago center aiming to meet our community's religious needs. The Imam will lead the Muslim community in the comprehensive and correct practice of Islam and provide spiritual and moral guidance to the community to achieve continuous spiritual and educational growth of the congregates. Specific responsibilities include: leading daily prayers; answering Fiqh questions in relation to religious and social issues; planning and leading religious education programs; meeting with non-Muslim delegations from schools, colleges, churches, and various institutions; counseling families in accordance to Islamic principles; presenting lectures and short talks for spiritual education; planning for and coordinating Ramadan activities and programs, including the start of Ramadan and Eids, leading Taraweeh prayer, and monitoring activities during Ramadan; engaging in interfaith community, civic, educational, and social outreach; and writing and arranging religious articles for our publication.
Position requires a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in Islamic Studies or a related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Assistant Imam, or as a Teacher, Educational Supervisor, General Educational Supervisor, Head of Education Affairs, or similar position. Experience must include: curriculum development with a focus on Islamic studies and Arabic education; working withmethodologies of contemporary Islamic educational sciences; teaching of Islamic shariah; developing youth (tarbiya) programs; teaching the Qur’an and religion to community members; and outreach with Non-Muslims regarding Islam. In addition, must have a minimum of at least one certification (ijazah)from the following: Asim, Hafs, Ibn Amer, Ibn Katheer, Abu Amr, Hamzah, Nafe’. Full time position.
